People take stuff before donations are even in the shop. This happens at borrell Ave warehouse I know 3 people who volunteer there and take alot of the things and sell them online. This needs to be addressed it’s ridiculous.
I cant comment as to truth of the previous comment but as a long time patron and supporter of the hospice in New Pymouth, i have noticed a significant decline in both amount of items coming through, Particularly large items, whiteware, furniture etc as well as the quality of the items put up for sale! As an example i saw recently a regular sized OLD PLASTIC BUCKET, CRACKED all the way down to the base and celotaped up, beng SOLD for a DOLLAR! Myself and many others I have spoken to agree about this general decline….. and unfortunately custom and so income for the Hospice is dropping steadily. Whether the above comment is tue I cannot verify, but something is happening to the quality goods that have now disappeared off the shop floor…. Please, please investigate this matter thoroughly as peopl in the community are losong confidence in the store and are now looking elsewhere to donate there pre loved goods…..
Apologies, but i only now saw the star review and must in good conscience change the automatic review star number….. I can only give 1 STAR to the present store, until the matter is investigated and the results published publicly . May I suggest cameras and then a more thorough catalogue system to ensure that items donated are not being, stolen and/or sold for private gain by unscrupulous mongrels masquerading as honest staff and volunteers.
How ever I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful, honest, hardworking, generous and friendly staff and the volunteers who give so graciously of their time and expertise! It is a great pity that doubts are being cast on your characters because of the possible actions of others….
After thinking on your comment Bob, I would ask that you go to the manager of the Hospice store with your concerns, ideally you have some proof before accussations are made. For example a particular item/items that you know have been taken/stolen and placed on trade me… if the auction could be found and the item listed saved to watchlist or screen saved. Allowing the manger the chance to verify your claim. This may be considered enough proof that action be taken? Ideally the ‘volounteer’ removed, if not charged with theft. Considering the items donated then become the property of the hospice organisation and as such, if they are taken and used for any reason outside of the mandate of Hospice NZ, this action must be considered theft? Misappropriation of donated goods to a charity organization. You have here a chance to help a wonderful organization, filled with good people, providing a wonderful service for everyones benefit. Please act, your honesty and efforts are deeply appreciated….. : )
I love it so much!! Very well priced and wonderful customer service. I have found many beautiful things here including a typewriter and gorgeous fur coats. Would definitely recommended to everyone. It seems that since moving to their new shop space everything has improved including customer service, quality of goods and pricing.
I have been going to the Weston hospice shop for years and donating most weeks. I’m really saddened to see how expensive it is and now looking more like a second hand shop. I feel for those who can’t afford to buy these expensive items. I can but choosing not out of principle. The turnover isn’t as it used to be and I find the manner of the lady who runs it not friendly.
It raises funds for the hospice but also helped out those who were needy. I’m reviewing where I donate and shop now. It’s no longer a fun experience.
